SCPYS is committed to providing athletes the opportunity to develop skills essential to positive growth in the sport of soccer and to inspire each player to a lifelong enjoyment of the game. Coaches not only will develop players in the technical, tactical, physical, and psychological components of the game, they will also teach the importance of commitment, good sportsmanship, teamwork, respect for self and others, and an ability to learn from both winning and losing. Our SCPYS coaches partner with parents and players to achieve these goals, realizing that only through commitment, hard work, and execution will we "win" both on and off the playing field. Duties:
  • Plan and conduct soccer training sessions for players based on current age level
  • Teach fundamental soccer skills, techniques, and strategies
  • Training Sessions are held 2 to 3 a week (depending on age) for 1.5 hr sessions for the Fall & Spring with weekly game(s) on Sunday and occasional Saturday
  • Attending and coaching Saturday or Sunday games as scheduled
  • Representing SCPYS and the travel soccer club in a positive manner. Being a good role model for the young players under your guidance.
  • Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback for improvement
  • Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and positive attitudes among players
  • Ensure the safety of all players during training sessions and games
  • Winter training available
  • Various age groups available
Qualifications:
  • MUST BE DEPENDABLE & COMMITTED
  • Previous experience coaching soccer or playing at a competitive level
  • Knowledge of soccer rules, strategies, and techniques
  • Ability to effectively communicate & work with players & parents (in person/Teamsnap)
  • Certification in CPR and first aid is preferred, but not required
  • Must have valid US driver's license and have their own car
  • Minimum of a USSF D License is required (NJ State license will be considered).
  • Must pass a background check
  • 1099 position
  • Hourly pay based on experience & current license
