Job Description

SUMMARY:
The Assistant Athletic Coach supports the athletic program by recruiting and developing student-athletes, assisting with coaching and training, organizing practices, and promoting academic and athletic excellence. This role helps ensure student-athletes perform at a high level while maintaining strong academic performance and adhering to institutional and athletic conference regulations. Key Responsibilities Recruit high-quality student-athletes to participate in the university's athletic programs. Support the academic success of student-athletes in both classroom and athletic environments. Assist in developing training programs designed to maximize student-athletes' performance and competitive success. Monitor and evaluate athlete performance and provide constructive feedback and guidance. Deliver effective coaching instruction, motivation, and mentorship to student-athletes. Assist in designing and implementing practice plans, drills, and strategies for athletic events. Promote student-athlete engagement within academic and social networks. Supervise athletic events and ensure compliance with sportsmanship and safety standards. Assist with game management during home events when not competing. Organize and supervise community service activities involving student-athletes. Supervise student-athletes during road trips and travel for competitions. Schedule and coordinate non-conference athletic competitions. Assist in planning and organizing events that enhance the student-athlete experience and support the athletic department. Ensure compliance with all institutional policies and applicable athletic association regulations. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong leadership and communication skills Ability to mentor and motivate student-athletes Organizational and event management skills Knowledge of athletic training techniques and competitive strategies Ability to support student-athletes' academic and personal development Strong commitment to ethical conduct and sportsmanship

Frequently Working Environment:
Evening and weekend work required during competition seasons. Frequent travel for athletic events and recruiting. Active participation in practices, training sessions, and competitions. Minimum Qualifications Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in Sports Management, Physical Education, or a related field. Experience Prior coaching or collegiate athletic experience preferred. Experience working with student-athletes in an educational environment.
Preferred Skills:
Collegiate playing or coaching experience
