Job Description:
Under the supervision of the Athletics Director/Deputy Athletics Director/Associate Athletics Director, the Head Coach of the Men's & Women's Cross Country programs will coordinate the operations, management, coaching and cultivation of competitive and successful Division III teams and set of student-athletes.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES
- Support the academic success of all student-athletes and demonstrate a strong commitment to their personal and professional development.
- Must be available for 7:00-9:00am weekday practices as well as weekend meets.
- Actively recruit prospective students of the highest quality in order to contribute to the program's success.
- Assist in the planning, management, evaluation, operation, and coordination of all aspects of the Men's & Women's Cross Country programs.
- Supervise and organize practice sessions, match-day coaching operations, scheduling, and team travel.
- Maintain proper and appropriate discipline among students during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off campus.
- Supervise the assistant coaching staff.
- Engage in team fundraising activities and alumni engagement events.
- Take advantage of professional development opportunities for personal and professional growth, as well as further success of the Cross Country programs.
- Attend campus, conference, regional, and national meetings as necessary.
- Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, City University of New York (CUNY), CUNY Athletic Conference, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA Division III) policies and procedures.
- Coordinate travel arrangements for tournament travel, assigned budgets, program planning and forecasting, including team building and community outreach programs.
- This position will require night and weekend work, and overnight travel to away tournaments.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree required. 3-5 years of head coaching experience preferred. Assistant coaching experience required. CurrentCPR / AED
certifications must be obtained upon hiring. Driver's License required. Experience in hiring, supervising, and training support staff and developing schedules to assure all work and work areas are covered. Excellent customer and staff relation skills required.
