Job Description
This position is responsible for providing coaching expertise and leadership for the administration of the NCAA Division I Softball program; management and administration of all aspects relating to a positive and beneficial intercollegiate experience for student-athletes.
Primary accountabilities:
1. Teaching and coaching student-athletes in order to develop and acquire the extensive tactical, technical and physical knowledge required to be a competitive Division I intercollegiate level student-athlete. Responsible for skill evaluation, instruction, planning, organization and supervision of individual and team practices and intercollegiate athletic competitions. 2. Administration of the sport program including hiring of assistant coaches and other support staff, implement a recruiting program scheduling of competitions, budget management, fundraising, alumni relations, and staff development. Collaborate with training staff relative to the health and safety of the student-athletes. Monitoring of the student-athlete academic progress to maintain their academic eligibility. 3. Ensure the softball program is in compliance with NCAA, Mid-American Conference, and Ohio University rules and regulations. Candidate must display the highest of ethical standards, recruit qualified student-athletes and display a commitment to their academic success. Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 5 or more years of related professional experience, or equivalent education and experience.
