As an all-male Catholic college preparatory school sponsored by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), St. Xavier educates approximately 1,400 young men from three states and over 90 grade schools. Rooted in the Jesuit tradition, St. Xavier forms young men who are open to growth, intellectually competent, religious, loving, and committed to doing justice. Position Overview St. Xavier High School seeks a Head Swimming & Diving Coach to lead one of the premier high school swimming and diving programs in the state of Ohio beginning July 1, 2026. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in competitive swimming and diving, demonstrated leadership experience, and a commitment to developing student-athletes both in and out of the pool. The Head Coach will uphold the mission and values of St. Xavier while fostering excellence, accountability, sportsmanship, and personal growth within the program. Primary Responsibilities Organize and oversee all aspects of the swimming and diving program for grades 9-12. Plan and supervise practices, meet preparation, strength and conditioning coordination, and athlete development. Coordinate team schedules, meet logistics, travel arrangements, budgeting, and equipment inventory. Hire, supervise, mentor, and evaluate assistant coaching staff in collaboration with the Athletic Director. Promote a positive and competitive team culture aligned with the values of St. Xavier High School. Work collaboratively with the Sports Medicine, Strength & Wellness, and Athletic Department staffs. Coordinate preseason, postseason, and offseason programming, including summer opportunities and athlete development initiatives. Maintain communication with student-athletes, parents, faculty, alumni, and booster/support groups. Support and participate in admissions, community engagement, and youth program initiatives, including camps and clinics. Ensure compliance with all OHSAA, GCL, school, and athletic department policies and procedures. Maintain professional growth through coaching clinics, certifications, and continuing education opportunities. Qualifications Bachelor's degree preferred. Previous high school, club, or collegiate coaching experience in swimming and/or diving preferred. Experience competing in swimming and/or diving at the high school or collegiate level preferred. Secondary teaching certificate preferred. Preferred Skills and Attributes Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to build meaningful relationships with student-athletes and families. Knowledge of athlete development, team culture, sports psychology, and leadership strategies. Commitment to balancing academics, athletics, faith, and service in the lives of student-athletes. Passion for mentoring and forming young men in the Jesuit tradition. Ability to manage and sustain a championship-level program while developing athletes at all levels. •
