Job Description

Available:
Immediately Terms of Employment:
Regular, full-time 12-month position, with University benefit package. Answers to the Director of Athletics in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, located on the Alva Campus. Position open until filled.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for providing leadership for all aspects of a dynamic
NCAA DII
Men's Basketball program at a 4-year state university including, but not limited to activities involved in practice sessions and competition events Responsible for compliance with policies and procedures of the University, Great American Conference (GAC), NCAA and other regulatory agencies Required to annually pass the NCAA recruiting modules before recruiting off campus Responsible for all documentation required of NWOSU, the Great America Conference, and NCAA to ensure institutional control Organizes and conducts practice sessions Submits orders for equipment and is responsible for inventory and issuance of equipment Provides complete and accurate required information to all appropriate offices for all official visits Reviews NCAA rules with student-athletes when necessary and reinforces the importance of compliance Responsible for the actions of all assistant coaches and staff and the sport's compliance with NCAA rules In cooperation with the Director of Athletics and Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance, monitors the scheduling process, verifying that the schedule meets NCAA and conference scheduling requirements Facilitates the provision of all information necessary to determine prospective student-athlete eligibility Educates student-athletes of NCAA regulations regarding reporting of employment earnings Furnishes a roster of players for eligibility clarification Supervises conduct of athletes on trips and at games
Qualifications:
Must exhibit commitment and responsibility for adhering to all rules and regulations of Northwestern, the GAC and the NCAA, as well as show a thorough understanding of NCAA rules compliance Experience playing and coaching basketball required. Must be certified in AED/CPR Position requires strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to remain calm in situations where emotions are strained Must demonstrate effective public speaking skills and work well with various news media organizations.
