High School World History w/Possible Coaching Duties Position Category Teaching - High School Position Type High School World History Teacher and possible Coach Posting Start Date 4/27/2026 Posting End Date 5/29/2026 Position Start Date 8/10/2026 School District Purcell Public Schools City, State Purcell , OK United States Description Purcell High School is looking for a dynamic World History Teacher to join our Social Studies department. We are seeking an educator who can make history come alive for students through engaging, inquiry-based lessons.

This position may include coaching responsibilities for the right candidate; please specify your coaching background and areas of expertise in your application.
Academic Responsibilities Instruction:
Deliver comprehensive World History curriculum covering ancient civilizations through the modern era, aligned with Oklahoma Academic Standards.
Engagement:
Utilize diverse teaching strategies (Socratic seminars, primary source analysis, digital integration) to reach all learning styles.
Assessment:
Design and implement formative and summative assessments to track student progress and mastery.
Classroom Management:
Maintain a structured, respectful, and inclusive environment that encourages critical thinking and civil discourse.
Coaching & Extra-Curriculars Team Leadership:
Lead or assist in a designated athletic program, emphasizing sportsmanship, skill development, and academic accountability.
Mentorship:
Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes, fostering the "Dragon Pride" spirit on and off the field.
Schedule:
Willingness to dedicate time to after-school practices, travel for games, and summer programs as required by the specific sport. Required Qualifications Valid Oklahoma Secondary Social Studies Certification (Grades 9-12).
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in History, Education, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications Instructional Expertise:
Experience teaching Advanced Placement (AP) World History or Honors-level courses.
Tech-Savvy:
Proficiency with Google Classroom, Infinite Campus, and instructional technology tools.
