Under direction, the role of the head coach is to lead the planning, development, and implementation of the policies, regulations, guidelines, and procedures pertaining to an interscholastic OSSA program. Head coaches provide leadership and vision within the program, and organize and conduct the athletic programs to meet the needs of the school district and their participants. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities This position has the following expectations and prerequisite abilities. 1. Knowledge and understanding of the basic and advanced aspects of the sport. 2. Has knowledge of and complies with state, conference, league and school training, rules and regulations. 3. Understanding of child growth, development and behavior with knowledge of assessment techniques and monitoring strategies to identify student/athlete's efforts, performance, strengths, and weaknesses. 4. Has thorough knowledge of and complies with all state, conference, league and school rules and regulations, and policies approved by Eugene School District 4J, OSAA, NFHS. 5. Knowledge of policies, regulations, and procedures pertaining to interscholastic athletics and activities. 6. Knowledge of interscholastic sports groups and organizations within the local community and the greater metropolitan area. 7. Ability to provide training and coaching through motivational techniques and strategies to improve individuals and group performance. 8. Ability to supervise, direct and evaluate subordinate personnel and provide leadership and vision for the individual sport program and all of the teams under their supervision. 9. Establish and maintain effective organization, community, and public relationships. 10. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse students, staff, and community populations. 11. Maintain a high level of confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, FERPA and adherence to the competent and ethical educator practices. 12. Exceptional prioritization of tasks, timely completion of work assignments, ability to take the initiative and work independently with minimal supervision. 14. Present self and ESD4J in a professional manner including: in oral and written communication, professional disposition when working with others and maintaining professional dress standards. 16. Ability to understand and follow oral and written directives, find requested data and present in user-friendly formats for internal and public distribution. 17. Maintain regular attendance at work. Be punctual in meeting deadlines, attending meetings, and following schedules. 18. Utilize teleservice platform to provide services to educators, students and district staff as directed. 19. Ability to lift, carry at least 25 pounds. Minimum Qualifications Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered qualified as determined by Human Resources.
Education:
? High School diploma or equivalent Certification:
? Possession of a valid Red Cross First Aid Certificate, including CPR training methods and procedures. ? Successful completion of Concussion Management and other training courses required by the OSAA. ? Successfully meet the District's background check process. ? Preferred, but not required: Possession of a valid TSPC license. ? Valid Oregon Driver's License Experience:
? Two years of experience as a high school interscholastic coach. o Experience in, or understanding of sport to be coached. Must meet OSAA standards for coaching certificate. Knowledge of athletic conditioning and care/prevention of injuries. ? Must be a minimum of 22 years of age. Preferred Qualifications:
? Possession of an earned baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited college or university in physical education, ? Bilingual proficiency and/or multicultural experience strongly preferred.
