Non-Exempt/Part-Time De La Salle North Catholic High School provides a faith-based, college-preparatory high school education to underserved students from the Portland area. Our goal is to develop tomorrow's community leaders by making high-quality education accessible to motivated young people in a learning environment that values cultural, spiritual, and ethnic diversity. Our educational approach provides each student with the opportunity to succeed through small classes, high expectations, and active participation in our Corporate Work Study Program affiliated with the nationally-recognized Cristo Rey Network.
Position purpose:
Lead our Soccer Program while building a positive experience and culture around and within the program. We are actively seeking someone who will elevate the soccer experience for our students and who will inspire student-athletes with great energy and passion. We are looking for someone who loves and knows soccer and will give our athletes the best opportunity to be successful.
Major responsibilities:
Develop our Boys Soccer Program both physically and spiritually by building a culture of commitment and excellence. Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Develop and administer a competitive Soccer Program Coach the soccer team Manage all aspects of the team including practices, film analysis, equipment, facilities, travel, schedules and competitions Conduct structured practices 5 days per week depending on the game schedule Teach, to all players, appropriate fundamental skills of Soccer, positions, game play, line judging and scorekeeping Create and facilitate a system of monitoring your student athletes' academic progress Plan and conduct appropriate fundraisers for your program Demonstrate good sportsmanship and model behavior at all times in and out of season Create appropriate team policies and procedures regarding attendance, fundraisers, travel, etc.; Share these with the players, Parents, Director of Athletics, Vice Principals, and Principal Help instruct and motivate students to compete at their fullest potential Help students understand how their training and competitive habits can become part of their larger formation Drive the students to and from games and/or practices as necessary; in addition, stay with the students until the last student has left Orchestrate and remain responsible for the hiring of all assistant coaches and volunteers of your program Complete and maintain coach's certifications through the OSAA, NFHS and the Archdiocese, and First Aid-CPR Be available to coach all practices and games, including Saturday games Secure the building and the parking lot before leaving if everyone else has left Work with the Director of Athletics to arrange competitions Implement and facilitate an off-season workout program Monitor the distribution and collection of all team-issued uniforms and equipment Continue to further your knowledge of the sport through training, seminars, online research, etc. Report any disciplinary incidents to the Athletic Director, and copy the Principal if necessary Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma required Previous Soccer coaching/participation experience required Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
High school Soccer coaching experience Bachelor's or some college courses completed Bilingual (Spanish and English) ADA Compliant list of Physical Requirements Must be able to remain in a stationary position: Occasionally Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle in accordance with state regulations: Frequently Must be able to communicate with students/parents/other staff: Constantly Must be able to move equipment weighing up to 30 lbs.: Occasionally Work in outdoor weather conditions:
