Director of Swim Job Description EMAC Learn to Swim is seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated Swim Instructors to join our team. In this role, you will provide individualized and small-group swim instruction for students with a wide range of abilities, backgrounds, and disabilities. Using EMAC's curriculum and training, instructors help swimmers build water safety skills, confidence, independence, and a positive relationship with the water. This position is ideal for someone passionate about making a meaningful impact through inclusive swim lessons. Initial Training All Swim Instructors will complete the initial training consisting of a blended learning environment. You may start teaching after the initial training. During this time you will also be receiving adaptive training where you must complete 20-25 hours of training with the Lead Trainer and/or Outreach Coordinator before independently teaching lessons.
Training includes:
In-water instruction and hands-on practice Out-of-water classroom learning Completion of an online adaptive swim certification program Responsibilities Teach private and group lessons using EMAC's Learn to Swim and Adaptive Swim curriculum Adapt instruction based on each swimmer's age, skill level, disability, and learning style Maintain constant supervision and ensure swimmer safety at all times Assist with setup and breakdown of lesson areas, including equipment organization and storage Attend all required staff trainings and professional development sessions Be flexible with schedule changes and class coverage needs Record attendance and student progress in the Jackrabbit staff portal Communicate regularly with supervisors regarding student progress, concerns, or scheduling issues Support the mission and goals of EMAC's Learn-to-Swim and Adaptive Programs Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Completion of EMAC Learn to Swim Instructor Training Willingness to be cross trained to teach adaptive students Strong swimming ability and understanding of basic stroke mechanics CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard Certification (or willingness to obtain) Passion for working with children and individuals with diverse needs Strong communication and interpersonal skills Dependable, punctual, and professional attitude Ability to lift, load/unload, and move up to 40 lbs Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and access to a vehicle Ability to work in and around swimming pools with exposure to chlorinated or chemically treated water Availability Requirements Our swim school runs 7-days a week, we are flexible as needed outside of our winter availability Primary teaching hours: 3:00 PM
- 8:00 PM, Monday
- Friday; 9:00 AM
- 3:00pm, Saturday & Sunday Additional winter availability (January-March): Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM
