2026-2027 Field Hockey Season Position Summary The Octorara Area School District is seeking a highly motivated, student-centered, and knowledgeable Varsity Field Hockey Head Coach to lead and develop our high school field hockey program. The successful candidate will provide leadership that promotes athletic excellence, character development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and academic achievement while fostering a positive and inclusive team culture. Essential Responsibilities Direct and oversee all aspects of the varsity field hockey program. Plan, organize, and conduct practices, games, and team activities. Develop and implement a comprehensive program that supports the growth of student-athletes at all levels. Promote sportsmanship, ethical conduct, and positive citizenship among student-athletes. Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants. Monitor academic eligibility and encourage academic success. Collaborate with assistant coaches, athletic administration, and school personnel. Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, staff, and community members. Maintain compliance with District policies, PIAA regulations, and league requirements. Coordinate equipment needs, inventory, and care of athletic facilities. Attend required coaches' meetings, professional development opportunities, and athletic department events. Support youth and feeder programs to strengthen the future of the field hockey program. Qualifications Previous successful coaching experience in field hockey preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of field hockey rules, strategies, and skill development. Ability to establish positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, staff, and community members. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Commitment to fostering an inclusive and positive team environment. Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification preferred (or ability to obtain). Must satisfy all Pennsylvania employment requirements, including: PA Criminal History Clearance PA Child Abuse Clearance FBI Fingerprint Clearance Act 168 Disclosure Requirements Mandated Reporter Training Preferred Qualifications Collegiate playing or coaching experience. Experience developing student-athletes and building successful programs. Knowledge of PIAA rules and regulations. Experience working with high school-aged students. Compensation Compensation shall be in accordance with the Octorara Area School District supplemental athletic salary schedule.
