Job Description

Head Track And Field Coach Part-Time Devon Preparatory School, a Catholic, college preparatory school for young men in grade six to twelve, is seeking an Head Track and Field Coach to join our Athletics Department- immediately. Head High School Track and Field Position.
Team Coach Job Description and Responsibilities Overview:
As a Track and Field Coach, you will be responsible for leading and developing athletes in the sport of Golf . Your role will encompass various aspects of coaching, including player development, team management, game preparation, leadership, and mentorship. You will work closely with players to improve their skills, foster teamwork, and promote a positive and competitive team culture.
General Responsibilities:
Player Development:
Assessing student athletes abilities and identifying areas for improvement. Conducting drills and practice sessions to enhance fundamental skills such as sprint , javelin ,distance running etc. Providing individualized feedback and instruction to players to facilitate skill development. Monitoring players' progress and adjusting training programs as needed.
Team Management:
Organizing team practices, workouts, and conditioning sessions. Developing team strategies and game plans based on opponents' strengths and weaknesses. Promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and camaraderie among players. Managing player rotations and positions effectively during games.
Game Preparation:
Analyzing opponents' tendencies and scouting reports to develop game strategies. Implementing situational drills and simulations to prepare athletes for game scenarios. Making in-game adjustments and strategic decisions based on game situations and player performance. Ensuring players are mentally and physically prepared for competition.
Leadership and Mentorship:
Serving as a role model for players by demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and sportsmanship. Providing mentorship and guidance to players on and off the field. Fostering a positive and supportive team culture that emphasizes hard work, discipline, and respect. Developing leadership skills among team captains and senior players.
Communication:
Effectively communicating with players, coaching staff, and team management. Providing clear and constructive feedback to players to facilitate improvement. Collaborating with assistant coaches and staff members to ensure alignment and consistency within the program. Communicating with parents/guardians to provide updates on player progress and team activities. Specific Responsibilities Attend any/all pre-season P.I.A.A and P.C.L rule interpretation meetings or league meetings that they are responsible to attend. Knowledge of these meetings will be provided to the COACH by the Athletic Director. Adhere to the 14 Legal Duties of coaching as discussed in the pre-season coaches meeting. Providing interested student-athletes with information about on campus camps, clinics, and lessons that will assist in skill development. The head coach of each program is responsible for providing the Athletic Director with specific names of potential student athletes in their respective sports who fit the overall culture of Devon Prep in all facets. These students should be students that have been talked to already by the coach before sending them to the athletic department. Is responsible for leading off-season training sessions. (All sports should have an offseason plan directed by the head coach of the program) The program must be approved by the Athletic Director. Responsible for a pre-season meeting with parents if required by the Athletic Director. This meeting is an in person meeting. Responsible for organizing staff supervision on the bus/van going to and from away events. Responsible for providing the Assistant Athletic Director with current and updated practice schedules to be posted on Team Snap and communicating any changes. Responsible for the orderly distribution, collection, and inventory of uniforms in conjunction with the Assistant Athletic Director. Responsible for providing a copy of the end-of-season statistics for his/her team to the Athletic Office. . Responsible for maintaining the TeamSnap account. The coach is responsible for communicating with their teams at least one time a week via teamsnap to update them on the activities of the team for the week. Messages should include but not limited to, updates of what is happening with the team, transportation, early dismissal, team dinners, etc. Responsible for reporting the scores and game summary to the athletic department after the conclusion of each contest. Responsible for clean-up of the facilities after the completion of the event. Gym and Field House lights should be turned off and all doors locked before leaving. Provide parents with a means by which he/she can be contacted regarding questions or concerns. This is an email address only. The COACH should use this form of communication to update the team and players throughout the season. Required to attend a post-season sports banquet. Required to attend the annual Open House held in October/April, unless specifically excused by the Athletic Director Must complete CPR training, all required NFHS courses and all PIAA courses, if applicable. Must set up an end of year activity with the team. The VARSITY coach needs to communicate the plans for senior day with the athletic department. The athletic department will provide each senior with a poster, a flower for their parents and public acknowledgment. Must communicate with the athletic department weekly and end of the season roundups. All coaches are required to have evaluations performed by the Athletic Department.
Qualifications:
Previous coaching experience, preferably in Track and Field. Strong knowledge of Track and Field fundamentals, strategies, and rules. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate and inspire players to achieve their full potential. Organizational and time management abilities to coordinate practices, games, and team activities effectively. Commitment to upholding ethical standards and promoting a positive team culture. Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new coaching methodologies and technologies. Background check required
Education:
Bachelor's degree in sports science, physical education, or a related field (preferred). Coaching certifications or training programs may be beneficial.
Working Conditions:
Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends for practices, games, and travel. Physical demands may include standing for extended periods, demonstrating drills, and participating in practice sessions. Travel may be required for away games, tournaments, or scouting trips.
Preferred:
PA teaching certification Experience with youth golf teams/programs in the area.
