Job Description
Job Summary CD High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our athletic department as a Freshman Boys Basketball Coach for the upcoming season. This seasonal position is ideal for someone passionate about youth sports and committed to fostering a positive, competitive environment for student-athletes. The coach will be responsible for developing the skills of freshman players, promoting teamwork, and ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants. Responsibilities Plan and conduct daily basketball practices, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Develop game strategies and prepare players for competition, ensuring they understand their roles and responsibilities. Organize and lead team meetings to communicate goals, expectations, and game plans. Foster a positive team culture that encourages respect, discipline, and hard work among players. Monitor player performance and provide constructive feedback to help them improve. Coordinate with the athletic department and other coaches regarding scheduling, transportation, and equipment needs. Ensure compliance with school policies and regulations, as well as any applicable league rules. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding player progress and team activities. Promote the importance of academics and encourage student-athletes to balance their athletic and academic responsibilities. Assist in the recruitment and development of future players for the high school basketball program. Requirements Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school or youth level, is preferred but not required. Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, rules, and strategies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with players, parents, and school staff. Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes to reach their full potential. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. First Aid and CPR certification is preferred; willingness to obtain certification if not currently held. Must pass a background check and adhere to all school and district policies. Availability for after-school practices and evening games during the basketball season. A passion for coaching and a commitment to the development of student-athletes both on and off the court.
