Job Description
The Landsale Area Family YMCA is seeking sports instructors for our new NinjaZone@ The Ninja Zone is an exciting fusion of gymnastics, martial arts tricking, parkour, and obstacle course training. The Ninja Zone Instructor is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading engaging classes in a safe, positive, and high-energy environment. This role may include early morning, evening, and weekend hours. Success in this position is demonstrated through accurate, timely work and the ability to operate with minimal supervision while delivering exceptional program experiences.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum age of 16 with required working papers At least 1 year of experience working with children (teaching, coaching, babysitting, mentoring) Knowledge or background in sports, fitness, or a related specialty Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain) Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal) Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to a team environment Comfortable interacting with individuals of diverse backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles Positive, high-energy personality with a passion for youth development and fitness Commitment to scheduled seasons and team responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead fun, safe, and engaging NinjaZone classes, practices, and activities Set up and break down equipment; maintain clean and organized program spaces Develop and follow lesson plans and curriculum Create a positive, encouraging environment that supports physical and mental growth Communicate effectively with participants, parents, and team members Monitor participant progress and track attendance Assist with parties, special events, and additional programming as needed Ensure all equipment and facilities are safe and properly maintained Respond appropriately to emergency situations Support YMCA standards and contribute to overall program quality Continue professional development through training and educational opportunities
WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
Ability to perform physical activities including standing, walking, climbing, balancing, bending, and lifting (up to 25 lbs) Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments Strong sensory and communication abilities (hearing, seeing, reading, writing, and speaking English fluently)
