Head IndoorOutdoor Track and Field Coach (WinterSpring seasons)Status:
Part-time/Seasonal FSLA Classification :
Exempt Reports to: Athletic Director Position Purpose The successful candidates will be coaches who are willing to develop our scholar-athletes while demonstrating strong character, professionalism, relational skills, and who are a positive role model appropriately utilizing the platform of their sport. Essential Functions Organizes tryouts and practices. Helps players understand the program objectives. Communicates clear expectations to the players and parents. Represents the school in a manner that exhibits and promotes SCH's mission. Works with admissions to recruit TrackField student-athletes. Help attract quality assistant coaches specializing in specific track and field events Collaborate with middle school coaches to encourage vertical alignment and attract/retain athletes within the school. Develops positive, productive relationships with the entire SCH community. Keeps accurate attendance records. Keeps the Athletic Director informed of problems and/or concerns. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous high school/club coaching experience. Collegiate coaching experience preferred but not required. Prior Head Coaching experience preferred. Prior independent school experience is a plus. Expertise, understanding and passion for the sport. Demonstrated commitment to the academic success of the student, teaching correct skill techniques, and the development and support of student-athletes with an ability and desire to compete at the collegiate level. Ability to contribute to the growth of the program. Proven ability to exemplify the highest standard of leadership, sportsmanship and respect. Track record of success working in partnership with students, staff, and parents. Ability to attend all team practices, meets and events. Physical Requirements and Work Environment Work in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold. Tasks involve the ability to exert heavy physical effort, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, lifting, carrying, pushing, and/on pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials weighing 20 to 50 pounds.
