Carnegie Mellon University Rowing Club Coach Carnegie Mellon University Campus Recreation Pittsburgh, PA Job Details Part-time $14,000 - $20,000 a year 1 day ago Qualifications Slack Bachelor's degree Rowing Performing background checks Full Job Description University Club Sports - University Rowing Club Coach Part-time Specific Requirements The Carnegie Mellon University Rowing Club is a club sport organization at Carnegie Mellon University. The club is largely run by a board of students. The team is made of a diverse group of undergraduate and graduate students, of many athletic backgrounds. As head coach, your responsibilities are as follows: Coordinate with assistant coaches to efficiently run varsity practice Monday-Friday 5:15 am - 7:15 am• and Saturday 8am - 10 am. •Coach must get students on land by 7:05am and allow students to leave promptly at 7:15am. Communicate with volunteer coaches and vice president about the status of novice rower ability. Run practice in accordance with the TRRA Safety matrix. Produce lineups in iCrew according to the logged attendance. Monitor Slack (club messaging platform) for messages from captains, board, and athletes. Provide rowers with productive feedback during practices. Attend all regattas. Fully read the regatta packet, and understand the schedule, registration rules, and etiquette. Transport the trailer and equipment using either a personal vehicle or a rental truck (or make reasonable arrangements for equipment transport). If needed, the board is responsible for booking a rental truck. Relationship between the coach and board: The coach is expected to communicate personal time conflicts with practice, equipment issues they experience, and logistics opinions or additional information from experience or other coaches/regatta organizers. Board is expected to communicate team needs. Captains are expected to communicate athlete feedback. Coach sets lineups. Captains may express opinions, ideas, or feedback. Board will plan hotel accommodations for coach during regattas or training trips.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required with 2 - 3 years experience preferred. This is an Independent Contractor position with the Carnegie Mellon University Athletics Department. This is not an employee position. The Independent Contractor will work closely with student organizations, while the contracting relationship is managed by the Athletics Department. The successful applicant must be willing to complete all necessary Independent Contractor requirements. Background check is required prior to employment.
