Position:
To assist in coaching student-athletes in the fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training necessary for individual and team success in girls wrestling. The coach will also serve as a mentor, promoting character development, self-discipline, confidence, and sportsmanship.
Key Responsibilities:
General Duties:
Support the head coach in all aspects of the wrestling program. Attend all practices, matches, and team events. Promote a positive image of the program and school within the community. Maintain a safe and respectful environment for all student-athletes.
Administrative:
Understand and implement all district, league, and PIAA policies and regulations. Ensure all athletes meet eligibility requirements, including physicals and parental consent. Coordinate with school staff and maintenance for facility use and event preparation.
Student-Athlete Development:
Serve as a role model and mentor to student-athletes. Monitor academic performance and behavior of athletes. Promote values such as trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. Enforce team rules and expectations consistently.
Equipment & Safety:
Assist in the care and inventory of equipment and uniforms. Ensure proper safety protocols are followed during practices and competitions.
Qualifications:
Prior wrestling experience (coaching or competitive) preferred. Ability to work effectively with junior high school students. Strong communication and organizational skills. Must meet all district and state clearance requirements (Act 34, Act 151, FBI Fingerprinting, etc.).
Professional Development:
Willingness to attend coaching clinics, workshops, or other training opportunities to enhance coaching skills.
Work Schedule:
Practices and matches typically occur after school hours and may include weekends. Seasonal position aligned with the junior high wrestling schedule.
