Job Description

The Arthur J. Glatfelter YMCA in York is seeking enthusiastic Swim Instructors to teach essential water safety and swimming skills to participants of all ages. In this role, you will lead group and private lessons in a safe, supportive environment while helping swimmers build confidence and develop lifelong skills in the water. We're looking for individuals who are energetic, patient, and passionate about teaching and water safety. Both experienced instructors and newly certified candidates are encouraged to apply. Schedule Evening shifts available Saturday mornings This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, sharing their love of swimming, and making a positive impact in the community-one lesson at a time. Swim Instructors play an important role in helping participants feel safe, successful, and confident in and around the water.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Instructs swimming lessons as assigned in accordance with YMCA guidelines, following lesson plans provided for each class level. Develops and maintains positive relationships with program participants and parents/caregivers while supporting them in achieving their goals. Relays information regarding participants' progress as well as other programs to parents/caregivers, when appropriate, while maintaining a friendly and warm atmosphere. Maintains records as required (e.g., attendance, parent handbooks, certificates). Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary. Attends staff meetings and in-service trainings when requested.

QUALIFICATIONS
Swim Instructor I Must have or obtain CPR Pro and First Aid certification Obtain a state police clearance, a child abuse clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance. Obtain Mandated Reporter Clearance. Swim Instructor II Must have or obtain CPR Pro and First Aid certification Obtain a state police clearance, a child abuse clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance. Obtain Mandated Reporter Clearance. High School Diploma 3 years teaching swim lessons experience OR completion of YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor (YSLI) Training. Swim Instructor III Must have or obtain CPR Pro and First Aid certification Obtain a state police clearance, a child abuse clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance. Obtain Mandated Reporter Clearance. High School Diploma Meet all requirements for Level II 5 years of experience teaching swim lessons 3 years of experience supervising a staff team
