The Head Girls' Basketball Coach will oversee the entire West Girls' Basketball Program and instruct the varsity high school girls' basketball team. They are responsible for helping each student-athlete gain success by reaching their full potential in the classroom and on the court.Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise the basketball program coaching staff- including Assistant/JV/Freshman coaches
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee training of basketball players in conjunction with the other coaches Develop training plans for basketball players in conjunction with the other coaches Assist in overseeing the running of specific events as needed at home games/events as directed by the Athletic Director Contribute to game line-up planning with other coaches Attend and coach at all practices Attend and coach at all games Assist other coaches in monitoring team members' practice attendance, school attendance, meet attendance, and grades Assist other coaches in enforcing team policies Responsible for providing student-athletes feedback about their performance related to their disposition, behavior, and team skills Manage program budget and organize fundraising efforts for the basketball program Coordinate competition and practice schedules with the Athletic Director Coordinate off-season training and conditioning for the basketball program Successful completion of the required WIAA Rules Exam for basketball by the 2026-2027 winter sports season.Qualifications:
Knowledge of instructional techniques for basketball Current certification or must obtain within one month of employment and maintain CPR/AED certification from a national certifying organization If no teaching license, successful completion of an approved coach's education course (ASEP) or the ability to complete the course prior to the second season of coaching Demonstrated ability to successfully coach in a diverse population Ability to initiate and maintain open communication with staff, student-athletes, and families Competitive experience in basketball at the high school level Previous coaching experience with preference for those with prior basketball experience Demonstrated knowledge of, and ability to design and implement a developmentally appropriate program for students in basketball Evidence of knowledge of WIAA eligibility standards and willingness to reinforce good sportsmanship and compliance with athletic codes from members of the West basketball program Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and supervise athletic teams with respect to schedules, equipment, student eligibility, and safetyPreferred:

Winter Sports Season Working Conditions:
Will be expected to work evenings and weekends. May also be expected to work in various outdoor weather conditions.Physical Requirements:

Working Conditions Work may require travel to different locations within the district and to off-site meetings. Position may require working evenings, nights, and some weekends. Certain positions within the District may allow hybrid work flexibility for a portion of their work schedule, depending on the needs of the position and the work unit. This topic and any remote work flexibility that may be available will be discussed in more detail in the interview process School-based positions are required to be in-person unless otherwise directed by the building principal. Physical Requirements Ability to work under generally safe and comfortable conditions where exposure to environmental factors is minimal and poses little to no risk of injury. This position requires the ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally and may involve walking, sitting, stooping or reaching. Manual dexterity is necessary for completing general tasks while operating office equipment. This position may require being stationary for extended periods of time. Ability to perform work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments throughout the year, including in inclement weather, spaces without air conditioning, and areas where temperatures may be uncomfortable or fluctuate rapidly.
