Job Type Full-time Unionized Position Code Not Applicable Job Description Responsible for the management and administration of the Women's Ice Hockey program in a manner that is in alignment with the mission, values and goals of the Athletics Department. Responsibilities include creating a highly competitive environment with specific responsibilities in the following areas: recruiting, practice and game planning, developing student-athletes, academic accountability for student-athletes, fiscal responsibility, alumni engagement, scheduling, compliance with policies/procedures/relevant rules, and oversight of assigned staff. Oversee the recruitment and selection of prospective student-athletes. Ensure compliance with all relevant NCAA guidelines pertaining to the recruitment of prospective student-athletes. Provide leadership and instruction in the personal, academic and athletic development of student-athletes. Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes by working closely with the compliance and academic staff. Arrange for a competitive competition schedule that places the team in a position to qualify for NCAA Championship competition. Supervise assistant coaches and other staff that report to the Head Coach. Assist in fundraising as requested by administration. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred. Demonstrated successful leadership experience required. Track record of a strong commitment to a positive student-athlete experience and ensuring student-athlete welfare is paramount. 5-8 years of overall experience preferred. Skills and Knowledge Experience coaching in intercollegiate athletics. Excellent written, interpersonal and oral communication skills is required. Must work effectively with faculty, staff and students from a variety of diverse backgrounds. Responsibilities Management and administration of the Women's Ice Hockey program. Includes providing leadership for staff, student-athletes and others and fiscal management of the program. Schedule and conduct regular season practice, strength and conditioning, a competition schedule. Oversee all practices and attend all competitions. Recruit prospective student-athletes that are academically and athletically prepared to contribute at Syracuse University. Conduct a program that is compliance with NCAA rules and regulations and submit all relevant paperwork to the Compliance Office as needed. Other duties as assigned.
