The Assistant Softball and Soccer Coach will assist the head coaches with organizing daily operations of the softball and soccer program. The position assists with conducting practices and workouts, instructing student-athletes in-game strategies and techniques, and guiding student-athletes toward successfully completing their degree program. •This is a 10-month contract position Essential Functions Identify, recruit, coach, and retain student-athletes. Organize and direct small groups and individual practice sessions. Review game films and prepare scouting reports. Participate in athletic fundraising and community service events. Participate in game film assignments and assist with film exchange/sending films to four-year institutions to promote student-athletes. Collect and input accurate stats. Monitor student-athlete academic progress and study hall attendance. Organize and maintain equipment inventory. Coordinate game day set-up/breakdown and facility needs for visitors and officials, Assist with team travel, meals, laundry, and equipment. Adhere to all NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association), Columbia State, and TCCAA (Tennessee Community College Athletic Association) rules and policies. Model sportsmanship and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, offices, and spectators. Instruct athletes on field maintenance and upkeep of facilities. Stay up to date with safety protocols, CPR certification/training and other health related aspects of your sport. Assist in the implementation of athletic summer camps. Plan, implement and execute intramural programs for CSCC students at multiple campuses. Support development, oversight of programs and services that result in enrollment, progression, retention and graduation growth for the service area. Supplemental Functions Support Athletics and intramurals initiatives. Service on college committees. Perform other duties as assigned. Education, Training, and Experience
Required:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution At least one year of successful experience as an athletic intern, graduate assistant coach, club-level coaching, or high school coaching. Demonstrated commitment to rules, policies, and compliance, and to student athlete success in academics and athletics.
Preferred:
College or professional coaching experience Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Abide by NJCAA and TCCAA rules. Possess and maintain knowledge about ADA, policy, and law changes applicable to the college setting. Adhere to state and federal legal, ethical, and TBR/Columbia State policy standards. Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize projects and tasks. Computer skills for daily workflow (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.). Adhere to FERPA guidelines for dissemination of student records and information. Work effectively as a team player to achieve department, division, and organizational goals. Working Conditions Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Requires regular travel to extended campuses. Extensive use of personal computer.
Hiring Salary Range:
$32,260- $38,710 This position is based at the Columbia, TN Campus.
