General Definition of Work
The Academic Assistant Coach supports the Academic Coach with assigned students by assisting with instructional activities, administering and reinforcing academic lessons, and guiding independent, enrichment, and remedial work to promote student success. The role includes monitoring students to ensure a safe and positive learning environment, maintaining accurate records and clerical support, and adhering to district policies and school expectations. Through direct instruction and support, the position contributes to students' academic achievement, interpersonal development, and daily living skills within a structured educational setting.

The normal place of work is on the premises used by Rock Hill Schools. Rock Hill Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.
Essential Functions
Assist with administering tests, homework assignments, make-up work, etc. for the purpose of supporting in the instructional process for the assigned students.
Assist assigned students with lesson assignments and/or activities for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.
Guides students in independent study (e.g. enrichment work, remedial work, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring students' success.
Instruct students for the purpose of improving their success in academic, interpersonal and daily living skills through a defined course of study.
Meets expectations set for all personnel (e.g. school schedule, dress code, performance) for the purpose of maintaining safe and efficient school operations within District guidelines and policies.
Monitors assigned student(s) according to predefined schedule in classroom for the purpose of ensuring a safe and positive learning environment.
Performs record-keeping and clerical functions relating to the assigned student (e.g. scheduling, copying, etc.) for the purpose of supporting the assigned student.
Comply with district policies, schedules, and professional expectations.

Knowledge of basic instructional practices and classroom procedures
Knowledge of student supervision and safety practices in an educational setting
Ability to assist students with lessons, assignments, testing, and make-up work under teacher direction
Ability to reinforce learning concepts and support independent, enrichment, and remedial activities
Ability to assist students with instructional activities and lesson assignments
Ability to support testing, homework, and make-up work as directed
Ability to monitor and supervise students to ensure a safe learning environment
Basic organizational and clerical skills, including record keeping and copying
Ability to follow school schedules, district policies, and professional standards
Effective communication and interpersonal skills when working with students and staff
Ability to provide instructional support that promotes academic achievement, interpersonal development, and daily living skills
Ability to monitor assigned students and maintain a safe, positive learning environment
Skill in basic record keeping and clerical tasks related to student support
Effective communication and interpersonal skills when working with students, teachers, and staff
Experience operating within a defined budget and utilizing limited resources from other work units as needed to perform job functions
Education and Experience
Minimum employment requirements; high school diploma; college background preferred
At least ( 60 earned semester hours) at an accredited institution of higher education; or an associate's degree (or higher); or an approved state or local academic assessment that measures the paraprofessional's knowledge of and ability to assist in instruction at the appropriate level. Paraprofessionals may meet the assessment requirement by passing the ParaPro Assessment (ETS.org). The minimum passing score on this test is 456.
Special Requirements
Must have and maintain a valid Driver's License or ability to provide own transportation
Prior to beginning employment, negative tb test results must be provided.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this position
