GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
Under limited supervision, employs classroom management techniques that result in an atmosphere for teaching/learning in which students can know what they are expected to do. The high school teacher is responsible for educating students typically ranging from grades 9th to 12th. They play a pivotal role in preparing students for the academic challenges after high school while fostering their personal growth and development. The position requires a deep understanding of the subject matter, the ability to engage young minds, and the capacity to manage a dynamic classroom environment effectively. The role also involves collaborating with colleagues, communicating with parents, and staying abreast of best educational practices. Reports to the principal.SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Has a prepared lesson plan that is sufficient for instructing lessons for grades 9th through 12th. Exercises proper care of materials and equipment. Communicates needs of the classroom to the proper personnel. Arrives for work at the assigned hour and does not leave before the assigned time. Communicates appropriately and effectively with other staff members, parents, students, and with administration. Accepts assistance, advice, and guidance from people responsible for supervising his/her performance and makes a concerted effort toward improving or refining skills. Shares ideas, plans, materials, and facilities. Alert to the district's, school's, and his/her own goals and priorities and seeks professional development appropriate to theseneeds. Keeps in confidence information that has been obtained in the course of professional service, unless disclosure serves professional purpose or is required by law. The teacher, in his/her association with others, respects the rights, feelings, and differences among individuals, and communicates directly with the person(s) involved in any situation. While exercising his/her contractual responsibilities, complies with those state and local restrictions pertaining to the use of controlled substances, tobacco products, alcohol, and dress. Does not verbally or physically harass students. Does not use profanity in the presence of students. Does not have any sexual contact with students. To provide effective leadership that will ensure a positive learning environment and will stress the importance of academics achievement. To demonstrate a high degree of ethics, professionalism, human relations, and be a positive role model for all students.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBLITIES
Comply with the rules and regulations of Spartanburg School District Seven, South Carolina High School League, the AAAA Conference and RegionIII AAAA.
Prepare and submit an annual budget to the Director of Athletics and follow the procurement policies and school policies involving financial transactions. Prepare reports, inventory and recommendations for equipment. Communicate to all participants the policies of the team, local school, and School Board relating to school sponsored activities. Submit forms as required by the South Carolina High School League, the School Board, and local school; i.e., eligibility rosters, players' addresses, etc. Be responsible for the assigned athletic program; establish procedures for communicating with parents/guardians. Plan, organize, and implement the teaching of fundamentals, strategies, rules, and proper conditioning in the assigned sport. Provide an atmosphere conducive to good sportsmanship; compile and maintain accurate individual and teal performance records; participate in the awards programs(s) according to school procedure. Ensure that adequate supervision is provided for all students involved in the program; provide for the safety of participants by inspecting facilities and equipment and being aware of environmental conditions. Issue, collect, inventory, and store equipment consistent with department guidelines. Instruct participants in safety procedures and in the need to report injuries to the coach and/or trainer immediately; implement appropriate procedures for handling injury situations; ensure the availability of a properly supplied first aid kit and emergency care cards at all times. Inform students of the insurance program available through Spartanburg School District Seven. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or above. Valid South Carolina teacher's certificate in the assigned teaching area. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. Standards Required to Perform Essential Job FunctionsPhysical Requirements:

Maintain positive relationships with the home, parent(s) and the community. Keep parent(s) duly informed of the child's progress (through a variety of methods) and hold conference with parents and appropriate others as necessary. Responsible for reporting any reasonable suspicions related to a child's health or welfare because of abuse or neglect to the appropriate state/community agency, as well as the principal. Abide by the SC Teacher Code of Ethics. Participate in appropriate and required staff development sessions at the school and/or system level. Ensure that the use of the district's resources (time, money, people) are used in the most strategic and effective way possible. Report all accidents/injuries on the required form to the principal in a timely manner. Properly supervise students. Keep a current class record and submit it to the principal upon request and at the end of the year. Keep a complete cumulative record on each child.
