POSITION SUMMARY
The Middle School Volleyball Head Coach supports the development of the high school volleyball program by teaching skills, building competitive awareness, and fostering a culture of Christian character, teamwork, and sportsmanship. This coach prepares athletes to progress toward varsity play while reinforcing Sioux Falls Lutheran School's mission.
REQUIREMENTS
    Experience:
    Prior coaching or competitive experience (preferred)
      Certifications:
      First Aid/CPR; background check clearance required
        Skills:
        Strong knowledge of volleyball fundamentals, strategy, and teaching techniques
        ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
        Spiritual & Community Representation
        • Represent God, Sioux Falls Lutheran School, and yourself in a Christian manner at all times.
        • Serve as a role model of Christian character, leadership, and integrity for student-athletes. Coaching & Instruction
        • Plan and conduct well-structured practices in coordination with the Head Varsity Coach that focus on skill development, strategy, and teamwork.
        • Teach advanced techniques, game awareness, and sport-specific fundamentals appropriate for middle school athletes.
        • Provide individualized feedback and mentorship to support athlete growth. Competition & Support
        • Coach all middle school games and assist during varsity competitions as assigned.
        • Help develop game plans and strategies that align with the broader volleyball program philosophy. Team & Culture Leadership
        • Foster a team environment grounded in respect, accountability, and Christian values.
        • Encourage personal responsibility, effort, and positive relationships among teammates. Communication & Relationship Management
        • Communicate clearly and professionally with athletes, parents/guardians, and coaching staff.
        • Facilitate open dialogue about expectations, progress, and team goals. Safety, Records & Compliance
        • Promote safe participation in all activities.
        • Comply with school and league guidelines, including eligibility and attendance policies. Collaboration & Growth
        • Work collaboratively with the Head Varsity Coach and Athletic Director to ensure consistency in coaching philosophy and program goals.
        • Participate in ongoing professional development to strengthen coaching practices. Commitment to 3D Coaching Values
        • Participate in Coaching Huddles twice per month.
        • Prepare 3D goals and strategies for your athletic program.
        • Assess results and learning with support and accountability.
        Pay:
        $23.24 - $27.99 per hour
