Job Description

I. Job Summary The Head Coach is responsible for developing a best-in-class, region-centric wrestling club that enhances wrestlers of all ages and skill levels. The primary goal is to solidify Arlington's wrestling facility as a premier destination for the sport within the Mid-South region. II.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Program Development:
Coordinate with Arlington High School (AHS) coaching staff to establish and enforce a Standard of Learning (SOL).
Athlete Advancement:
Develop Middle School and Advanced wrestlers for the high school level through focused technique and competition.
Staff Leadership:
Guide the development of volunteer coaches and provide SOL testing criteria for training.
Seasonal Management:
Manage the Spring/Summer Freestyle and Greco-Roman seasons for all age groups.
Scheduling:
Establish practice schedules and competition calendars for various skill levels; coordinate facility use with the AHS Head Coach and Athletic Director.
Financial Planning:
Collaborate with the AWC Board of Directors on budget development, including camps, clinics, gear, and equipment.
Strength & Conditioning:
Coordinate strength training for middle school wrestlers with AWC, AHS, or third-party coaches.
Culture & Communication:
Foster a desirable team culture for families regardless of school affiliation. Use the Team App to communicate schedules, changes, and accomplishments.
Supervision:
Monitor athlete performance, manage team dynamics (including conflict resolution), and ensure adherence to safety protocols during practices and competitions. III.
Competencies Interpretation Skills:
Ability to observe and interpret technical deficiencies in wrestlers.
Communication:
Strong written and oral skills; ability to clearly explain corrective match techniques and strategies.
Interpersonal & Leadership:
Proven ability to lead effectively within a team environment and interact professionally with parents and volunteers.
Computer Literacy:
Proficiency in spreadsheet management and digital communication tools (app, email, text). IV.
Job Holder Requirements Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree and teaching credentials preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of wrestling coaching experience; college-level wrestling experience preferred.
Certifications:
Must hold a USA Wrestling (USAW) Bronze certification or higher.
Physical Requirements:
Must be physically fit and able to demonstrate "hands-on" techniques at a speed appropriate for the group.
Mental Requirements:
Ability to analyze live or video footage to identify opportunities for improvement; capacity to manage multiple athletes across various mats during competitions.
Pay:
From $4,000.00 per year
