April 2026 Job Summary The Assistant Soccer Coach supports the Head Soccer Coach in all aspects of the soccer program, including instruction, supervision, and development of student-athletes. This position assists in building a competitive program that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and student growth while aligning with the district's mission of Experience Excellence. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description. Assist in planning and conducting practices that develop fundamental soccer skills, techniques, and conditioning. Instruct student-athletes on rules, strategies, terminology, and proper techniques of soccer. Support the implementation of program goals established by the Head Coach. Supervise student-athletes during practice, games, travel, and related activities. Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and respect among student-athletes. Ensure compliance with all TSSAA rules, school policies, and district expectations. Assist with game preparation, including drills, strategy implementation, and in-game coaching support. Emphasize safety and proper conditioning, and injury prevention practices. Help coordinate schedules, facility usage, and transportation needs in collaboration with the Head Coach and Athletic Director. Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment and uniforms. Model professionalism and ethical behavior at all times, representing the school positively. Maintain effective communication with student-athletes, parents, and school personnel. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Soccer Coach, Athletic Director, or administration. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Previous soccer experience (participation and/or coaching) preferred Knowledge of soccer techniques, rules, and training methods Ability to work collaboratively with coaching staff and school personnel Must complete all required coaching certifications and trainings as required by TSSAA and district Must meet all health requirements and pass background check Physical Demands and Working Conditions The physical demands and working conditions described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The essential functions of this position must be performed on-site at the assigned work location. This role is not designated as a remote or hybrid position. Physical presence at work is an essential function of this position. This job may require lifting of objects that exceed 25 lbs. Other physical demands that may be required are as follows: Pushing and/or pulling Climbing Stooping and/or kneeling Reaching Talking Hearing Seeing Adaptability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure; accepting responsibility for the direction, control, or planning of an activity; dealing with students; generalizing, evaluations, or decisions based on sensory or judgmental criteria. Low to medium degree of discomfort due to exposure to temperature, fumes, dirt, dust, noise, and cleaning chemicals. The position also requires effective communication with parents and colleagues to support the holistic development of students and ensure alignment with school goals. Collaboration with other staff members will be essential to ensure a cohesive experience for all students.
