NTPPRIMARY PURPOSE
The role of the Boys Athletic Coordinator/Head Varsity Football Coach is to develop and direct the football program and supervise the other athletic programs at the high school campus assigned as well as oversee the Junior High and feeder school's athletic programs.QUALIFICATIONS
TEA certification requirement Current certification in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation issued by the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association, or another organization that provides equivalent training and certificationSpecial Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of overall operations of an athletic program Knowledge of state and UIL policies governing athletics Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data Ability to manage budget and personnel and coordinate district function Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skillsExperience:
Three years of successful teaching and coaching experience required Varsity Head Football or Varsity Offensive Coordinator or Varsity Defensive Coordinator experience preferredMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Serve as the head football coach at the high school assigned. Serve as athletic coordinator for the high school assigned and junior high and elementary feeder schools. Organize and administer the overall program of interscholastic athletics for the schools assigned. Coordinate with campus principal the recruitment, recommendation, assignments/re-assignments, and evaluation of athletic coaches and staff on campuses assigned to meet the needs of the overall athletic program. Assist the athletic director and principal to ensure that all job vacancies are posted at central office as soon as they occur. Arrange transportation, lodging, and meals for athletes and coaches of high school assigned and junior high and elementary feeder schools. Assist the principal with the development of the campus athletic program budget. Assist and be responsible to the campus principal in all matters concerning physical education Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. Assist with the operation of the athletic program at the feeder junior highs as directed by the athletic director. Instill and promote good sportsmanship and fair play. Evaluate and select football team. Verify athletes eligibility (grades, insurance, waivers, age, attendance, parent permission forms, etc.). Plan and schedule daily practice sessions in-season and off-season. Ensure proper care of injuries by working with school athletic trainer, team doctor, and parents. Promote good communication with campus administration, staff, parents, and students. Develop a program that can compete favorably with other programs in the district. Make all district and other honors recommendations. Ensure athletes have transportation home after practice, games, and trips. Keep the principal and athletic director abreast at all times of functions, awards, concerns, etc. Assist and compile athletic handbook (philosophy, conduct, award, etc). Compile statement on needs, inventory, requisitions, and annual budget. Comply and keep abreast of U.I.L. rules, regulations, and reports. Seek both academic and athletic scholarships for top athletes. Create athletic video for athletes seeking academic/athletic scholarships. Oversee safety conditions of playing and practice sites. Cooperate in the total school program. Set a good example for all athletes on and off the field. Prepare schedules for approval. Assist in providing adequate dressing room facilities for visiting teams. Coordinate and approve selection of game officials and proper payment for services. Encourage clinics for coaches in all sports. Supervise and evaluate teams below the varsity level (techniques, philosophy, and any other related activities). Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or to others. Review and adhere to rules within the "Athletic Plan" in the University Interscholastic League Constitution and Contest Rules Manual. Performs other related duties as assigned.WORKING CONDITIONS
