Director of Cross Country/Indoor & Outdoor Track & Field Primary Function:
Assist in all aspects of the institution's intercollegiate Cross Country/Indoor & Outdoor Track & Field programs
Major Duties:
Assist with and/or perform the following duties at the direction of the
Director of Cross Country/Indoor & Outdoor Track & Field:
Plan daily and weekly practice. Coordinate event groups Working collaboratively with the Office of Admissions, recruit new student-athletes that can achieve personal, academic, and athletic success at LCU. Self-report violations of NCAA and/or conference rules in a timely manner Actively support and engage in student-athlete community engagement/service opportunities Ensure student-athlete well-being by collaborating with the athletic training staff Serve as a role model and resource for student-athletes Other duties or administrative duties as assigned by the
Director of Cross Country/Indoor & Outdoor Track & Field Responsibilities:
Sprint, Hurdles and Relays Teaching proper mechanics and form Correcting technique Designing event-specific drills
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Commitment to the institution's mission and vision Strong managerial and organizational skills Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to work with students, faculty, and staff in a professional manner Strong ability to multitask and problem solve Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality Proficiency in a variety of computer applications Willingness to undertake innovative approaches Ability to develop positive relationships with a diverse student and staff population Ability to perform well under stressful conditions Ability to listen critically Ability to travel as required Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary
First Aid, CPR, and AED Certification Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree required; master's degree preferred Previous coaching experience at the collegiate and/or high school level preferred
Physical Requirements:
While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee will be required to do the following: Be ambulatory around campus and in buildings. Required to regularly sit and stand. Frequently use wrist, hands and/or fingers to make small repetitive movements such as typing, distributing mail and picking up small objects. Ability to talk frequently to convey detailed and/or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly or quickly. Be able to hear average or normal conversations and receive verbal information. Required to lift packages and/or move heavy objects, 50+lbs.
NOTE:
All LCU employees are required to complete Title IX & Information Security (FERPA) training and Data Security Training at the time of new hire and on an annual basis thereafter. Some positions/departments may require additional training for security or data needs.
