Friday Overview:
IDEA MCALLEN
is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Afterschool Sports Instructor/Coach to lead elementary students in various sports and physical activities. The instructor will create a fun, safe, and inclusive environment where students can develop their physical skills, learn teamwork, and enjoy healthy competition.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, organize, and implement sports programs and activities suitable for elementary-aged children. Teach fundamental techniques and rules for a variety of sports, such as soccer, basketball, baseball, and more. Foster a positive and encouraging atmosphere, promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and self-esteem. Monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of all students during activities. Provide constructive feedback and support to help students improve their skills and achieve their personal best. Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about students' progress and any concerns. Collaborate with other instructors and staff to plan and organize sports events, tournaments, or showcases. Maintain sports equipment and facilities, ensuring they are in good condition and safe for use. Adhere to all school/organization policies and procedures, including those related to child protection and health and safety.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in coaching or instructing sports, particularly with elementary-aged children. Knowledge of a variety of sports and physical activities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to inspire and motivate students of different ages and skill levels. Strong organizational and time-management skills. First Aid and CPR certification is preferred. Background check and clearances as required by the school/organization.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to conduct classes and demonstrate sports techniques. Capable of standing for extended periods and engaging in physical activity.
