Midland, TX Job Details Full-time 17 hours ago Qualifications NCAA standards Management Working with athletes Student recruitment Sports team experience Social media platforms Bachelor's degree NCAA rules Classroom Teaching Full Job Description The Assistant Coach - Women's Basketball will assist the head coach with all duties and responsibilities related to the specific Midland College athletic program. This includes assisting in game operations, and other Midland College athletics-related duties as designated by the Director of Athletics.
Essential Functions:
Provide quality coaching and instruction to students Develop, implement, and teach skills related to the athletic program Identify, recruit, coach, and develop student-athletes Scout opponents and prepare athletes for competition Oversee game-day tasks and supervise student-athletes Monitor classroom attendance and academic performance Assist the head coach with teaching team conditioning activities and player development Participate in teaching soft skills identified as goals in athletics Work collaboratively with the head athletic trainer to ensure the health and safety of student-athletes
Physical Demands:
Ability to remain in a stationary position for 50% of the time Ability to sit or stand for long periods Must be able to move or drive to other locations on and off campus Repetitive use of a keyboard and manual dexterity Ability to climb stairs, balance, stoop, and twist Must be able to bend, reach overhead, and lift/move up to 80 pounds
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university Must adhere to all policies and procedures of Midland College Willingness and ability to develop recruiting relationships and identify prospective students Knowledge of various social media platforms to promote the athletics program Demonstrated knowledge and teaching abilities for the skill and physical development of student-athletes Ability to convey necessary techniques and understanding of the sport Ability to work with minimal supervision and execute tasks with minimal oversight Ability to work with people in the community and across Midland College departments Ability to manage and motivate program participants from diverse populations Demonstrated knowledge of
NCAA, NJCAA, NJCAA
Region 5, and WJCAC rules and regulations
Preferred Qualifications:
Proven experience in teaching and coaching or player development Demonstrated recruiting experience at the college and professional levels Experience, certifications, or degrees in human movement and athletic performance Playing experience at the college/university and professional level All Midland College positions are security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215.
