Job Description

Responsible for teaching swim lessons to participants in a class environment. Work is performed under immediate supervision with the exercise of judgment in accordance with established policies, procedures, and techniques. This position is a seasonal summer position . •Preference is given to applicants available for the entire summer season. Work hours to include nights, weekends, and holidays as needed for program operation.

Aquatics Operations Dates:
May 22- Sept 7 Prepares lesson plans to conduct daily instruction. Assesses ability level of program participants; make recommendations on participant class placement. Instructs class participants on swim skills. Supervises class participants and swim lesson assistants. Exercises diligence and prudence in maintaining maximum safety for all participants as well as staff. Evaluates and record daily class attendance. Discusses participant progress with parent/guardian. Collects and distribute copies of swim lesson information form, certificates of completion, evaluation forms, attendance records and any other paper work needed. Completes necessary paperwork immediately after each session. Uses sound judgment in determining use of pool in case of bad weather or unsafe pool conditions. Performs other job-related tasks as required. Must be 16 years or older. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, and butterfly. Must have a current certification in American Red Cross Lifeguarding or equivalent. Will consider other agencies' certifications on a case-by-case basis. Preferred - Current certification in American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or equivalent. Will consider other agency certifications on a case-by-case basis.
