GENERAL PURPOSE
Performs a high level or swim instruction to individuals and or groups.SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the general direction of the Aquatics Manager, Aquatics Coordinator, Aquatics Supervisor and/or Head Guards.SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Supervision of swim lesson students.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides instruction in water safety and teaches swimming lessons for assigned age groups. Maintains constant alertness to those in class. Performs related duties as required.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Sufficient education and training to demonstrate an aptitude or ability to perform above and related duties; specialized training and certification (Star Fish) as a Swim lesson instructor; AND Six (6) months general experience related to safe swimming. OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Some knowledge of water safety practices, rules and guidelines; swimming instruction techniques. Swim Instructor, page 2 Ability to demonstrate advanced swimming skills; establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, the public, ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.Special Qualifications:
Must be 15 years of age. Must obtain swim lesson instructor certification upon hire.Work Environment:
Incumbent of the position performs in a climate controlled environment. OSHA related hazards may be encountered under controlled conditions. Tasks require a variety of physical activities, generally involving muscular strain, such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, and hand, finger dexterity needed in performance of essential duties.
