LocationHill City Sports Center, 118 Davis Cup Road, Lynchburg, VA, 24502, United States Industry Swim Teams, Aquatics, Swim Coach Employee Type PT Hourly Manage OthersNo Description Hill City Sports Center is seeking energetic, knowledgeable, and motivating Swim Team Coaches to help lead and develop swimmers of varying ages and skill levels in a positive, team-oriented environment. Ideal candidates are passionate about competitive swimming, athlete development, and creating a culture of discipline, encouragement, and sportsmanship. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Plan and conduct swim team practices for age-group and/or competitive swimmers Teach and refine stroke technique, starts, turns, and race strategies Help develop training plans that improve endurance, speed, and overall performance Foster a positive, inclusive, and motivating team culture Prepare swimmers for local, regional, and seasonal competitions Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and staff Ensure swimmer safety and maintain pool deck supervision standards Assist with swim meets, team events, and program growth initiatives Monitor athlete progress and provide constructive feedback Qualifications Previous competitive swimming and/or swim coaching experience preferred Strong knowledge of stroke mechanics and competitive swim training Ability to motivate athletes of all ages and skill levels Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills Current CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard certifications preferred (or willingness to obtain) USA Swimming coaching certifications are a plus Availability for evenings, weekends, and swim meets as needed Positive attitude and strong work ethic Passion for youth development and team building Dependable and professional demeanor Ability to create a fun, challenging, and supportive training environment Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
