General Public•G Job Duties A. Accountability Ensure adherence to all NCAA, conference, and university rules, including compliance in recruiting, eligibility, and student-athlete conduct. Maintain accurate and timely documentation for recruiting logs, CARA logs, travel records, and player evaluations. Monitor student-athlete academic progress and coordinate with academic services to support retention and eligibility. Assist with budget management by following purchasing, travel, and equipment protocols. Oversee assigned program areas (e.g., scouting, player development, position groups, equipment) and deliver results with minimal oversight. ________________________________________ B. Leadership Provide positive leadership and mentorship to student-athletes, emphasizing academic excellence, personal development, and competitive standards. Assist the Head Coach in developing and implementing practice plans, game strategies, and skill-development sessions. Lead specific player groups or units during practices, film review, and games. Represent the program at on-campus events, recruiting activities, university functions, and community initiatives. Promote a culture of accountability, respect, teamwork, and high performance. ________________________________________ C. Communication Maintain consistent and professional communication with student-athletes regarding expectations, performance feedback, scheduling, and academic progress. Collaborate with athletic trainers, strength staff, academic services, and compliance to support student-athlete well-being. Provide clear reports and updates to the Head Coach on recruiting, player development, and operational matters. Communicate effectively with prospective student-athletes, families, high school/club coaches, and university personnel. Support media relations staff in preparing student-athletes for interviews or promotional activities. ________________________________________ D. Responsiveness Address student-athlete concerns, injuries, academic issues, or disciplinary matters promptly by referring them to the appropriate university resources. Respond to recruiting inquiries, campus visit coordination, and compliance requests in a timely manner. Adjust practice responsibilities and program needs quickly in response to schedule changes, travel demands, or opponent scouting. Provide timely feedback to the Head Coach to facilitate efficient decision-making. ________________________________________ E. Decision-Making Make independent decisions regarding daily practice coaching, individualized skill instruction, scout team management, and assigned operational duties. Recommend recruiting priorities, lineup adjustments, travel logistics, and player development strategies to the Head Coach. Execute delegated responsibilities such as supervising student managers, coordinating meals, arranging equipment needs, or overseeing film operations. Apply sound judgment in disciplinary and behavioral situations, referring major issues to the Head Coach. ________________________________________ Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Minimum 1-3 years of coaching experience at the collegiate, high school, or elite AAU/club level OR equivalent playing experience at the college/professional level. Demonstrated understanding of NCAA Division I rules and recruiting procedures. Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record. Additional Considerations Master's degree in Sport Management, Education, or a related field. Experience coaching at the NCAA Division I or Division II level. Proven success in recruiting Division I-caliber student-athletes. Experience with film editing systems, scouting platforms, and analytics tools. Represent the program at on-campus events, recruiting activities, university functions, and community initiatives. Promote a culture of accountability, respect, teamwork, and high performance.
