Job Description

Are you passionate about running and mentoring youth? Join our team as a Youth Running Club Coach and help young athletes ages 7-14 build skills, confidence, and healthy lifestyles through engaging practices, positive leadership, and a love of running. As a Youth Running Club Coach, you will: Plan and conduct age-appropriate running practices, drills, conditioning activities, and stretching exercises. Supervise participants during all practices, events, and program activities. Maintain attendance records and participant accountability. Communicate program information, schedules, and participant concerns to parents/guardians and Parks & Recreation staff. Enforce program rules and behavioral expectations fairly and consistently. Provide encouragement and instruction that promote sportsmanship, teamwork, confidence, and personal growth. Assist with setup, breakdown, and storage of program equipment and supplies. Report injuries, incidents, safety concerns, and participant issues promptly to the Program Supervisor. Performs other related duties as assigned. Must be at least 18 years old. High School Diploma or GED preferred. Experience participating in running, track and field, cross-country, youth athletics, physical education, or related recreational activities preferred. Previous experience coaching, mentoring, instructing, or supervising youth is preferred but not required. CPR and First Aid certification are preferred at hire and may be required within a specified period after employment.
Physical Demands:
Ability to actively participate in practices, including jogging, sprinting, and demonstrating drills. Frequent bending, stretching, and kneeling during activities, and to assist participants. Carrying and setting up equipment such as cones or other training aids (up to 25 lbs). Standing and moving for extended periods during practices and/or races, and maintaining a high level of energy and enthusiasm to engage with youth participants.
Environmental Conditions:
Work is primarily performed outdoors and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, cold temperatures, rain, uneven terrain, insects, and moderate noise levels All positions are subject to a criminal background check for any convictions that relate to the job duties and responsibilities.
