Job Description

This position will work 7.5hr/day from June 22, 2026 - July 9, 2026 (Not including July 3, 2026). There will be one additional paid prep day prior to the start of Summer School (June 18, 2026). The hourly rate for this position will be calculated based on experience and education. The Financial Literacy Summer School Teacher will help students develop positive behaviors that are necessary to attaining financial maturity and equipping students to make sound choices for their financial future. Students will learn about Managing Personal Finances & Financial Planning, Income, Saving & Investing, Banking and Financial Institutions, Credit & Debt, Risk Management & Insurance, Buying Goods and Services including a financing a home, the Stock Market and Business Correspondence.
Reports to and evaluated by:
Technical Education Supervisor or Designee
RESPONSIBILITIES
Possess experience in the use of all of the skills being taught. Provide an optimum learning environment for all students Participate in, contribute to, and be supportive of group decisions and efforts Collaborate with staff and work in teams to provide instruction to students Employ a systematic instructional process designed to meet the needs of students in the classroom Engage in purposeful, deliberate planning for instruction Follow District and State guidelines for essential learning and instructional strategies Work cooperatively with administration and staff in problem solving and group process activities Model lifelong learning, positive self-esteem, and respect for others Set and maintain high personal, professional, and instructional standards for self and students Adhere to Washington Code of Professional Conduct Perform other related duties as required or requested Remain informed of current needs and expectations of employers and be able to convey these to the students. Instruct students in leadership and basic business attitude and conduct skills. Attend state vocational meetings. Participate in and provide leadership for Financial Literacy Advisory Committee Participate in in-service and professional training. Perform related duties as may be required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
We want our instructors to be: Committed to the concept that all students can learn Committed to continuous progress and developmentally appropriate practices Open-minded and flexible Willing to change and grow Skilled in relating well to students, parents, staff and community Well versed in subject matter content Sensitive to and skilled in working with a diverse population Hold or be able to immediately qualify for and maintain Vocational Certification to teach in the desired program area in the State of Washington. Possess a minimum of three (3) years of industry experience in the Finance community with an emphasis in Finance Possess a minimum of two (2) years experience teaching Finance and/or Accounting Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel Possess a working knowledge of computer networks. Possess strong classroom management skills. Possess genuine desire to work with students of assigned age and learning group. Know and be able to implement strategies for different learning styles of students. Possess strong verbal and written communication skills with staff, students, and parents.
