Job Description
ASSISTANT GIRLS' SWIM COACH PORT ANGELES HIGH SCHOOL DESCRIPTION
Port Angeles High School is seeking an Assistant Girls Swim Coach for the Fall 2026-27 season. The Assistant Coach will support the Head Coach in all aspects of the swim program, including athlete development, practice organization, event-specific training, and supervision of student-athletes. The successful candidate will help foster a positive, inclusive team environment that emphasizes sportsmanship, effort, and personal growth. Responsibilities include assisting with daily practices, supporting technique development across swim events, supervising athletes at practices and meets, and assisting with program operations. The Assistant Coach will help ensure compliance with Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) regulations, league rules, and district athletic policies while supporting the academic and personal success of all student-athletes.QUALIFICATIONS
Previous coaching or competitive experience in swimming preferred Knowledge of competitive swim strokes, turns, starts, and training principles Ability to assist with coaching across events (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, relays) Knowledge of or willingness to learn meet procedures, timing systems, and event rules Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes Ability to work collaboratively with the Head Coach and coaching staff Commitment to promoting sportsmanship, effort, and team culture Ability to supervise students and maintain a safe aquatic environment Knowledge of or willingness to learn WIAA rules and regulations Must meet or be willing to obtain all WIAA coaching certification requirements Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification, and lifeguard certification preferred (or ability to obtain prior to the season) Must be willing to complete all district-required safety training Ability to maintain student confidentiality and follow district and school policies Must be at least 21 years of age Interested applicants may apply by visiting (www.portangeles.hrmplus.net), for assistance contact Human Resources at 360-565-2729.
