Job Description
ASSISTANT FOOTBALL COACH POSITION PORT ANGELES HIGH SCHOOL DESCRIPTION
Port Angeles High School is seeking multiple Assistant Football Coaches for the 2026-27 school year, beginning Spring 2026 in preparation for the fall football season. These positions will support all levels of the football program, including varsity and sub-varsity teams. Assistant Coaches will work under the direction of the Head Coach to support program operations, athlete development, and team culture. Responsibilities include assisting with practices and games, coaching position groups, supervising student- athletes, and supporting offseason development. One Assistant Coach may be assigned as the Junior Varsity Head Coach, responsible for leading the JV team, organizing practices and contests, and ensuring alignment with the overall program philosophy and systems. The successful candidates will contribute to a positive, student-centered program that emphasizes sportsmanship, discipline, effort, and academic success, while ensuring compliance with Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) regulations, league rules, and district athletic policies.QUALIFICATIONS
Previous coaching or playing experience in football preferred Knowledge of football fundamentals, rules, and game strategy Ability to coach and develop athletes in specific position groups Ability to support implementation of offensive, defensive, or special teams systems Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes Ability to work collaboratively with the Head Coach and coaching staff Commitment to promoting sportsmanship, effort, discipline, and team culture Ability to supervise students and maintain a safe environment Knowledge of or willingness to learn WIAA rules and eligibility requirements Must meet or be willing to obtain all WIAA coaching certification requirements Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification, or ability to obtain prior to the season Must be willing to complete all district-required safety training Ability to maintain student confidentiality and follow district and school policies Ability to support offseason and summer football activities consistent with WIAA guidelines Must be at least 21 years of age Additional Qualifications for JV Head Coach Assignment (if applicable) Demonstrated ability to plan and lead practices and games independently Ability to manage team operations, including game preparation and player development Strong understanding of program systems and ability to ensure alignment with varsity expectations Leadership skills to support development of student-athletes at the sub-varsity levelWages:
