Located on South Lake Union we are looking for part-time swim teachers who want to work in an inclusive environment that teaches water safety to members of the community. Our indoor 90-degree heated pool is newly renovated with top-of-the-line equipment. Swim instructor duties include
  • Organize and safely lead participants through swimming classes designed by the Red Cross and provide effective swim instruction to participants of various ages and backgrounds.
  • Incorporate fun activities into lessons and provide continuous, positive feedback to students.
  • Maintain accurate, current records of client progress and provide individualized feedback on swimmer progression by communicating regularly with participants and their parents.
  • Enforce all facility policies, rules, and regulations and recognize/respond appropriately to emergencies in accordance with the company's emergency action plans.
  • Maintain a consistent work schedule; arrive at work on time and ready for all scheduled work shifts.
  • Administer CPR, AED, and first aid as needed.
  • Complete incident and accident reports as required.
  • Attend and participate in monthly staff meetings and training programs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employees and members.
Our ideal candidate:
Competitive swim experience of at least one year. Has previous experience teaching swimming lessons and can work with swimmers of all ages. Canidates without former swim lesson teaching experience will not be considered. Will be in the Seattle area through August and September . Can work year-round in our indoor facility. Holds current Red Cross Lifeguard certification or is willing to certify within 90 days. WSI certification is a plus! Has the ability to swim 200 yards, tread water for two minutes, and retrieve a 10-pound weight from 8 feet down. Able to work weekday evenings and weekend mornings/afternoons. An effective communicator with staff and members both in person, on the phone, and by email. At least 18 years of age. Shifts Available Floater position. Must be able to pick up shifts on weekdays evenings and weekends mid-morning and mid-afternoon.
