Our History Founded in faith and sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of St. Joan Antida, St. Joan Antida High School (SJA) was founded in 1954 and serves as a successful springboard for more than 4,000 alumnae. SJA provides a student-centered, college and career-ready education to young women in grades 9-12. Position Summary The Girls Tennis Coach is responsible for leading and developing the school's tennis program while supporting the mission and values of a Catholic education. The coach will focus on developing tennis skills, encouraging sportsmanship, and fostering leadership and personal growth in student-athletes. The Varsity Coach will oversee the competitive success and leadership of the varsity team, while the Junior Varsity Coach will focus on skill development and preparing athletes for progression within the program. Key Responsibilities Plan and conduct organized, engaging tennis practices focused on skill development, conditioning, and match strategy. Teach tennis fundamentals including stroke technique, serving, footwork, match play, scoring, and court etiquette. Coach and supervise student-athletes during practices, matches, and tournaments. Promote sportsmanship, discipline, respect, and integrity both on and off the court. Foster leadership, confidence, resilience, and teamwork among student-athletes. Serve as a positive role model who reflects the school's Catholic values and mission. Support the academic success and eligibility of all players. Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, assistant coaches, and school administration. Maintain a safe and supportive environment for all participants. Coordinate with the Athletic Director regarding scheduling, equipment, transportation, and program needs. Manage team equipment, uniforms, and court resources. Assist with player development and program growth to build a strong and sustainable tennis program. Ensure compliance with all school, conference, and WIAA policies and regulations. Qualifications Previous tennis coaching or competitive playing experience preferred. Knowledge of tennis fundamentals, rules, match strategy, and player development. Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills. Ability to motivate and develop high school student-athletes. Commitment to supporting a Catholic, mission-driven educational environment. CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Must meet all background check and diocesan requirements. For All Employees Support and commit to the mission and vision of SJA. Demonstrate stewardship in the use of material and financial resources. Perform other duties as assigned. Work Environment Practices typically occur after school during the tennis season. Includes afternoon and evening matches, conference competitions, and occasional tournaments. Work takes place primarily at school tennis courts and athletic facilities. Ability to work evenings and occasional weekends as required by the athletic schedule. Must be able to tolerate varying weather conditions associated with outdoor athletics. Physical Demands Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. Must have correctable hearing and sight. Must be able to work independently. Must be able to work with common office and athletic equipment.
