Housed in the new Science and Engineering Complex (2023), the Department offers cutting-edge facilities and strong interdisciplinary ties across science, engineering, and medicine. We seek candidates pursuing cutting-edge research in areas that include, but are not limited to, materials physics under extreme environments, such as low-temperature, high-field, or high-pressure quantum phenomena; static and dynamic compression; synchrotron-based diffraction and spectroscopy for materials characterization; or additive manufacturing of advanced materials. This position aligns with federal and national priorities in energy resilience, quantum technologies, advanced manufacturing, and national security, providing fertile ground for extramural funding and impactful partnerships.
