Physics Description Summary:
This is a vacant position seeking an Assistant Professor at the Department of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics under the College of Engineering, Technology, and Physical Sciences. This is a full-time (9-month) position expected to begin in Fall 2024. The rank and tenure status of the position is negotiable based on qualifications. Applicants should possess a strong commitment to and demonstrated excellence in teaching, research, and service. Applicants at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor must have interests in outreach and funded projects. A Ph.D. in Physics with specialization in Materials Science/Nuclear Physics/Medical Physics/Condensed Matter Physics/Engineering Physics or a closely related field is required for this position.
Examples of Duties Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach at least twelve (12) semester hours per semester. The selected candidate is expected to maintain a strong research rigor and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Physics. As the Physics program offers MS and PhD in Applied Physics, the candidate must seek funding to support graduate students. Participate in teaching, research, and service activities at the department, college, and university levels that include completing teaching, research & service annually. Perform other duties as required Typical Qualifications Minimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.): Applicant must possess a Ph.D. in Physics with specialization in Materials Science/Nuclear Physics/Medical Physics/Condensed Matter Physics/Engineering Physics or a closely related field is required for this position. Applicant must have at least 1-3 years of teaching experience at a university level. Applicant must have demonstrated teaching excellence indicated by research presentations and teaching assessments. Applicant must have a commitment to research as evidenced by publication in scholarly journals and receiving external funding.
Supplemental Information Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Evidence of high-quality research in the fields of Physics and or related fields confirming with publications in professional journals. Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and graduate Physics courses. Expected to obtain external funding.
