Job Description

The Department of Physiology & Biophysics in School of Medicine is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. The Department is currently recruiting for up to two (2) In Residence faculty positions for researchers who will participate in teaching; research and creative work; academic activity; university and public service in an academic medical center environment. This is largely a grant-supported position. The Department provides excellent opportunities for teaching, mentorship and other academic interest opportunities to medical and graduate students, residents, fellows, and faculty. Successful research scientist candidates should have research interests aimed at elucidating mechanisms of cardiac arrhythmias in cardiovascular disease using multiple approaches that may include cellular and tissue-level electrophysiology, multi-modal imaging, excitation-contraction coupling, pharmacology, and molecular biology. The incumbent will be expected to develop extramurally funded research programs on the cutting edge, to provide leadership in cardiac electrophysiology research, and to engage in grant-supported collaborative studies with other departmental faculty, in which cardiac physiology and ion channel biophysics are central themes. The candidate will also have the opportunity to access outstanding resources and strengths of UCI Health, School of Medicine, and partners across the UCI campus. The appropriate step of the Assistant Professor In-Residence appointment will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
