Job Description

Primary Assignment:
Doctor of Marital and Family Therapy (DMFT)
Program Department of Counseling and Family Sciences Job Summary:
The Assistant Professor's responsibility encompasses education, scholarship, and service. Demonstrates loyalty to the mission, policies, standards, and regulations of the respective department, school, and the University, and follows the administrative policies set up by the University and the individual school. Works on statistics and research design issues across the three departments of the School of Behavior Health. Performs other duties as needed. The DMFT Faculty member contributes to doctoral education through teaching, research, mentoring, and service. Faculty support the academic and professional development of doctoral students and participate in program, department, and university activities.
Education and Experience:
An earned doctoral degree in one of the recognized behavioral health professions, arned Doctor of Marital and Family Therapy (DMFT) degree preferred. Experience teaching multiple levels of statistics, conducting data analysis, and use of statistical software are required. Teaching experience can be met by post doctorate teaching assignments. Other teaching assistantship experiences will be considered if there is evidence that the assignment included primary responsibility over classroom instruction. Experience teaching or mentoring at the graduate or doctoral level preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of current technology and educational media used in both classroom and online teaching and presentations. Able to effectively communicate changes and instructions in a professional, effective and positive manner. Able to write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position as well as Canvas and Banner. Able to communicate effectively on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person, on the telephone, in online synchronous and asynchronous teaching, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
Licensures and Certifications:
Professional certification, licensure or registration as appropriate. Earned Doctor of Marital and Family Therapy (DMFT) degree. Current clinical licensure as an LMFT or LPCC (or license eligible).
