2022-00124 General Description of the Position The Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources at Delaware State University (Dover, DE) seeks applicants to fill a full-time Assistant Professor of Animal Science position. This is a 12-month, tenure-track faculty position with 75% teaching and 25% research responsibilities in applied animal science. The candidate is expected to teach a wide variety of courses in animal science and farm management, extending to animal nutrition, livestock anatomy and physiology, livestock selection and breeding, equine management, meats and meat processing, and animal manure management. The candidate may also be expected to develop and instruct a graduate level course in his/her area of expertise. Essential Functions & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities The following are the functions essential to performing this job: The successful applicant will establish an outstanding teaching and research program in animal agriculture. The candidate will develop and teach animal agriculture-related courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels as needed by the department. The individual will develop extramurally-funded research projects, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and publish regularly in peer-reviewed journals appropriate to the discipline. The candidate is also expected to interact with agricultural stakeholders as part of the Land Grant program and participate in the academic life of the department, college and university through service on assigned committees. The individual in this job must possess the knowledge, skills and abilities to effectively teach college-level animal science courses and establish relevant animal science research programs.Successful candidates shall have:
The successful candidate should have sufficient studying experience of livestock animals in particular cattle and horses The successful candidate should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills The applicants should demonstrate competent abilities to teach animal science-related college courses, conduct applied research for improving the animal agriculture, and publish in refereed scientific journals The individual should be able to work proficiently in a culture-diverse, multidisciplinary teamQualification Standards Education:
Ph.D. in Animal Science or related field from an accredited institution. Postdoctoral experience preferred.
