Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY
Assistant Professor of Education (Graduate Level) position is a full-time, tenure track, 9 months per year position. Teaching assignments may include day, evening, completely online and/or weekend classes. Full time faculty are expected to participate fully in departmental activities and hold regular office hours. The faculty member must show evidence of a strong commitment to remain current in graduate education and its instructional program and willingness to incorporate appropriate technology into graduate education instruction. All faculty members must follow the policies and procedures set by the University.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach ( 9 credit hours per semester) some or all lower and higher level education (graduate) courses. Provide leadership role in all departmental activities such as participating in new curriculum development, providing mentoring and advising students. This position also requires that the selected candidate serve as the coordinator for the Master of Arts in Education Policy and Advocacy program. Design and implement relevant and progressive curriculum strategies. The successful candidate must have a strong commitment and demonstrate effective teaching strategies. Need to plan and develop new classes, prepare course materials, quizzes, exams, assignments and assist in team- teaching courses. Create performance based assessments aligned with competencies through formative and summative measures. Required to advise undergraduate students, establish student research projects, and graduate internships. Promote student success through timely communication, growth-based feedback, and implementation of strategies that meet the needs of diverse learners. Meet professional expectations by maintaining professional currency and contributing to a collaborative culture across the University. Use computer and other modern technologies in the daily class room setting.

QUALIFICATIONS
Doctorate or other appropriate terminal degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Education or a closely relate discipline. Commitment to high-quality instruction in a student-centered environment. Proficiency in active and collaborative learning and use of instructional technology. Prior college-level teaching is expected and online teaching experience is preferred. Evidence of success or potential for success in scholarship, grant procurement and publication is expected. Experience with Quality Matters standards for online teaching is preferred. Employee should have minimum of three (3) years of experience in teaching.
