Job Summary (Purpose and Function): The physics division is currently covering five radiation therapy venues: Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC) Main, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC) West, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC) at Deerfield Beach, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC) at Coral Gables, SCCC at Doral, SCCC at Sole Mia, SCCC at Plantation and Jackson Memorial Hospital (JMH). The division currently consists of twenty medical physicists and thirteen dosimetrists who carry out clinical, research and resident teaching duties. Provide all aspects of medical physics support to the operation of radiation therapy including commissioning and continuous quality assurance of external beam radiotherapy machines such as linear accelerators, special physics consultation as requested by radiation oncologists, participate and assist in the preparation of radiation treatment including image acquisitions, treatment planning, evaluation and verification of treatment plans, supervise the treatment delivery as necessary for conventional treatment, intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT), Total Body Irradiation (TBI), Total Skin Electron Therapy (TSET), MR-Guided Radiation Therapy (ViewRay) and stereotactic radiosurgery/therapy such as SRS and SBRT, perform weekly continuing physics chart check, perform all physics related tasks and QA procedures for high dose-rate (HDR) and low dose-rate (LDR) brachytherapy, supervise and collaborate with dosimetrists on all aspects dosimetric procedures, liaison with all relevant entities in the department to facilitate the process of radiation treatment delivery. Participate in the resident and medical physics graduate program teaching program including didactic lecturing and hands-on instructions as appropriate for academic level. Participate in the academic activities including graduate teaching, post-graduate mentoring and research activities as appropriate and directed by Chief of Medical Physics. Minimum Qualifications (Essential Requirements): PhD Degree in medical physics, engineering or related field with at least 2 years clinical experience and ABR (or equivalent) certified or eligible.
