Job Description

Assistant Professor of Criminology Reinhardt University - Waleska, GA 30183 Description Reinhardt University invites applications for a tenure-trackAssistant/Associate Professor of Criminology. The position is a 9-month position that will start in August 2026. Primary dutiesinclude teaching up to 24 contact hours per year, advising students, serving on faculty standing committees, working collegially to developacademic curricula and enrichment activities, and assisting with academic program assessment, among other duties.
General Summary:
The College of Humanities, Sciences, and Technology at Reinhardt Universityinvites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Criminology position to work on main campus in Waleska, GA. We seek astudent-centered educator with a strong foundation in criminology and sociology who is enthusiastic about contributing to the continuedevolution of our criminal justice program. The successful candidate will join a collegial department and play a meaningful role in shapingcurriculum as the program grows and expands its criminal justice focus, while maintaining a strong sociological perspective on socialsystems, crime, and justice. Our faculty provide students with research and internship opportunities, mentorship, and a strong foundationfor success before and after graduation.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Faculty areexpected to teach 24 contact hours per year (undergraduate) on the main campus. Applicants should be innovative and available teachers;excellence in the classroom is the primary focus of our institution and faculty evaluation. At the same time, we seek faculty whocontinually engage in professional development. We thus seek a person who has a plan for professional development and who is interested inbecoming involved in the university community.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Applicants should possess: Strong working knowledge of criminological theory and criminaljustice systems, grounded in sociological perspectives. Ability to teach introductory and upper-level undergraduate courses. Interest in or experience teaching research methods, data analysis, or applied social science. Experience developing orsupporting internships, experiential learning, or community-engaged opportunities. Professional or applied experience related tothe criminal justice system (e.g., courts, corrections, law enforcement, community organizations) is a plus. Excellentinterpersonal, organizational, and collaborative skills. Commitment to inclusive teaching and fostering a supportive learningenvironment.
Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:
Doctorate(Ph.D. or ABD) in Criminology from a regionally accredited institution is required. Degree must be earned by July, 2026. Eighteengraduate credit hours in Sociology are required. Documented success in undergraduate teaching. Demonstrated commitmentto undergraduate education in a liberal arts environment.
