Job Description:
Description The University of Chicago's Department of Molecular Genetics and Cell Biology (MGCB) invites applications for a Research Assistant Professor who will conduct academic research in association with a faculty member or team. The appointee will contribute to an active research program investigating mechanisms of gene expression regulation in the context of cellular stress responses in normal and cancerous cells. The appointee will be expected to make intellectual and scholarly contributions to the research enterprise, including authorship of peer-reviewed publications and contributions to successful grant applications. The appointee will ultimately develop an independent, extramurally funded research program within the larger context of a faculty member's lab, and the research program will complement the lab's existing strengths and research focus. The appointee will also help oversee scientific progress in the lab, including mentoring trainees, coordinating projects, and supporting collaborative research efforts within and beyond the department. Compensation is dependent upon qualifications. This position is benefits-eligible. The appointee will join a department that fosters interdisciplinary collaborations across the Biological Sciences Division and the University.
