This Visiting Assistant Professor will serve as academic education faculty as defined by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology at Northern Illinois University's Doctor of Audiology program. This faculty member is responsible for all aspects of educating Doctor of Audiology students through classroom student engagement at Northern Illinois University. We seek a faculty member who demonstrates a commitment to NIU's mission by supporting access to high-quality education and actively engages students in evidence-based inquiry and community-based learning experiences. NIU is a Carnegie Doctoral/Research University-High Research Activity located in DeKalb, IL. The main campus is in DeKalb, which is a diverse and growing community, 65 miles west of Chicago's "Loop" and 40 miles southeast of Rockford with education centers in Rockford and Naperville. DeKalb county, with a population of about 100,000, is a modern paradox, a rural/urban community. It is simultaneously recognized for its manufacturing and rich farmlands, as evidenced by it being the site of the first manufacturing of barbed wire and the development of hybrid seed corn. NIU faculty and students live in communities throughout Northern Illinois, including the western Chicago suburbs, city of Rockford, and small towns within driving distance from the university. The recently revitalized downtown city of DeKalb offers shops, restaurants, and other amenities. Business investment is evident in DeKalb's Chicago West Business Center, whose residents include companies such as Facebook/Meta, Ferrara Candy, and Kraft/Heinz. Position Summary As a Visiting Assistant Professor, you will deliver high-quality instruction to undergraduate and graduate audiology students while actively contributing to curriculum development and program advancement. You are expected to provide scholarly leadership to the field and fulfill service commitments at the program, university, and professional levels. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Teach academic coursework to graduate and undergraduate audiology students. Positively contribute to services within the university (program, school, college, and university levels) and profession. Provide scholarly advancement to the field of Audiology. Contribute to curriculum development and program advancement. Minimum Required Qualifications Earned academic doctorate (PhD or EdD) in Audiology or relevant related field by time of appointment ( ABD considered with established defense date). Effective oral/written communicative skills. Additional Requirements Preferred Qualifications Evidence of teaching experience and course development in higher academics or clinical experience within an Audiology or Doctor of Audiology program. Experience working in academic settings and experience in supervision and mentorship of students in clinical settings. Evidence of teaching effectiveness and course development in areas or clinical experience within the Doctor of Audiology program, with a focus on integrating real-world clinical experiences into the academic curriculum.
